When Adam and Gemma from Blue Surf and yoga School agreed to help me bring my vision to life, I knew we were about to create something special. As a humanist wedding celebrant in Cornwall, I've always believed your ceremony should reflect who you truly are — and for couples who love the sea, why not say your vows on the water itself?

Forget the traditional church aisle — what if your ceremony reflected your wild, adventurous spirit instead? That's exactly what we explored during our recent beach elopement photoshoot.
This wasn't just a photoshoot; it was proof that your humanist wedding ceremony can happen anywhere that is important to you. With surfboards as our aisle, local handmade Cornish flower leis, and vows exchanged while floating on the tide, we captured what a truly personalised ceremony looks like.
As a humanist celebrant, I work with couples who feel disconnected from conventional wedding traditions. They love the outdoors, they feel most themselves by the sea, yet they're told their ceremony needs four walls and formal seating.

Here's the truth: a humanist wedding ceremony can happen anywhere. On cliff tops, in woodlands, at the water's edge, or — as we discovered — on surfboards in the sea itself.

The dream team (and good friends) made it happen: Sophie Michelle Photography captured every splash and smile, Valentina Hair and Makeup created that effortless coastal glow, and Emma Jaynes Garden provided locally grown blooms and petal confetti that perfectly complemented our seaside setting.
